Serbian-American story                        Alisa Maric holds international chess titles of women's grandmaster (WGM) and men's international master (IM).  Results she made makes her best Serbian female chess player ever and because of her birth place, she's often considered as best American-born female chess player ever. Some of her achievements are still unique in national history of chess.

Chess grandmaster Dr Alisa Maric
Born in New York, living in Belgrade, Dr Alisa Maric is chess grandmaster and sports star of Serbia. She is university professor in Marketing, member of Presidential Board of Serbian Olympic Committee and winner of prestigious national awards.

 

Greatest achievement - 3rd place in the world
Alisa Maric played Final challenger match for the World champion title in 1991 which is the biggest individual success in history of Yugoslav and Serbian chess.

Chess Olympiads               In year 2006, Alisa Maric celebrated extraordinary jubilee, leading role in national selection for last 20 years. She won Olympic team bronze medal in Thessalonica 1988 and Olympic individual bronze medal in Elista 1998.

Cups and trophies          Her collection of medals also includes silver medal in Batumi 1999 at European teams championship. She won three European clubs cup gold trophies and one bronze.  She was junior vice champion of the world, senior champion of Yugoslavia and winner of many international tournaments.


August 2007:  Kavala Open                          Alisa Maric won 3rd women's prize on 16. International "Kavala Open" in Greece.

May 2007: Emergence of chess marketing                  Dr Alisa Maric was one of the invited speakers on European Chess Union's 1st Chess Marketing seminar in Greece.

January 2007: Award for jubilee                Alisa Maric was awarded with national honor prize "St.Sava", due to her  great jubilee in 2006, 20 years of leading playing role in national selection, and her efforts in project of making chess as a subject in primary schools.
